SWIM, Inc. is a non-profit organization that provides free water exercise opportunities for adults who find it difficult or impossible to get exercise on land due to the effects of MS, Parkinson’s Disease, stroke, fibromyalgia, RA, ALS, post polio syndrome or other causes.
The Bridgewater Chapter of SWIM, Inc. offers sessions on Wednesdays from 10:00-11:00 am and from 1:00 pm-2:00 pm at the Somerset Valley YMCA located at 601 Garretson Road in Bridgewater, New Jersey.
The water exercise session is followed by a social hour that lasts until 11:30 for the morning session and until 2:30 for the afternoon session. Membership at the Y is not required and there is no fee charged by SWIM, Inc.
The programs are made possible through the donation of pool and meeting room facilities by the Somerset Valley YMCA and through the efforts of many volunteers who run the program.
Any land mobility challenged adult who feels they would benefit by participating in such a water exercise program or anyone who would like to volunteer to assist in running the program should contact Joy Tsuzuki at 908-722-8164 for the morning session and Mariana Antos at 908-393-6992 or Margery Borysewicz at 732-271-5129 for the afternoon session.
